Next Steps

Those of you who have been following my site for some time know that our daughter was born with clubfoot. But can you believe that it has actually been six months since her last visit to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics?

"Feisty Girl" has her first follow-up visit on Monday. We are excited and nervous about this visit. Doctor's Ponseti and Morcuende are phenomenal! (I cannot express in words how wonderful and caring the entire team of healthcare professionals are in the Department of Orthopaedics). However, I have this "gut feel" that "Feisty Girl" might need additional treatment. I can't really explain why I think this...just a mother's intuition, I guess.

At this point I'm hoping for the best ("see you in six months!) but prepared for the worst (additional casts, surgery) and I keep reminding myself that either way it doesn't really matter. She is a happy, healthy little girl and if this is the worst that we have to experience then I consider us to be very lucky -- this really is a walk in the park compared to what many other families experience with a loved one of theirs.

So...Monday is the big day. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers! (I'll post an update on Monday to let you know what we learned).

I just jumped over from RQ's LID room and wanted to say hello and congratulations on having your sweet girl home!

Praying tonight for your daughter and hope that you'll be rejoicing tomorrow!
