Chinese New Year - Day 2

We are well into Day 2 of the Chinese New Year and, as promised, here is some of what is said to traditionally take place/occur on Day 2 of the Chinese New Year:
  • Married daughters visit their birth parents, relatives, and close friends.  This is due to the fact that in China married daughters don't generally have the opportunity to visit with the birth families on a frequent basis).
  • Day 2 of the Chinese New Year is believe to be the birthday of all dogs...and thus, dogs are remember and celebrated with the gift of a special "treat" on this day.
  • It is also said to be the "God of Wealth's" birthday.  Certain businessmen (who happen to be working during Day 2 of the Chinese New Year) start their business on this day with a prayer, as this is suppose to bring good luck and prosperity in their business dealings for the new year.
What did we do on Day 2 of the Chinese New Year?  We worked, the kids went to school and daycare, and after having just ate supper...the older one was just carted off to basketball practice.  When he comes home we'll spend some family time together, hit the sack, and then get up tomorrow and do it all over again -- there will be no day of rest for us! :)
