WHAT, NO BYE-BYE?

Because I generally don't get home from work until 5:00 pm or later and the kids go to bed between 8:00 and 8:30 pm, I like to run my errands on the weekends. It allows me to spend more time with them on weeknights and I'm able to do things at my leisure on the weekends.

When "Little Man" was younger we had "mommy and son time" on Sundays. We would always make a stop at the grocery store and, on occassion, we would grab lunch together somewhere. Many times we would also make stops at Target, Kohls, or some other random store that was calling our names. We would usually be gone for 3-4 hours and my husband would always wonder what the hell it was that we did for that long because he could accomplish everything we did in at least half the time! :)

Turns out, at some point, I realized that we were just dawdling -- but we loved spending time alone on these little excursions so even once I realized what was taking us so long, I never really changed the way we did things.

Fast forward several years to the time when "Feisty Girl" became part of the family. "Little Man" wanted to make sure that "Feisty Girl" got in on the shopping action, so I started a new ritual (I must like torturing myself!) to take BOTH kids out with me every weekend.

And today I surprised even myself...I took both kids, in the middle of the snowstorm (see yesterday's post) and we ventured out to the local Culligan Water Softening Store, the Post Office, Kohls, Walmart, Game Stop, the Liquor Store, and we even managed to fit lunch in there somewhere. So just WHY would I be crazy enough to do this running around in the middle of a raging snowstorm instead of tomorrow when the snowstorm will have passed, the roads will be plowed, and the wind won't be whipping around at 30 miles an hour???

Because this is the look I got when I told "Feisty Girl" that we weren't going bye-bye today...

KIDS, YOU GOTTA LOVE THEM!

For the record, "Little Man" didn't want to venture out today but when he found out that "Feisty Girl" and I were still going to make a go of it he couldn't resist coming along!
