The End of Summer Nears...
Every summer for the past 10+ years we have been traveling up to the North Shore (we stay in Duluth, MN) for our end-of-summer family vacation. Years ago we were a family of two, myself and my husband, then six years ago (through the grace of God) we became a family of three when our son was born. Last year, we became (through the grace of God...and a birth family 1/2 way around the world) a family of four. So, this year will mark our second year on the North Shore as a family of four and I couldn't be happier to be spending it with the three people who make my life complete!
We've moved our trip up several weeks (we normally leave right before Labor Day weekend) to accommodate my husband's work schedule and the move turned out to be a good one. Unknown to us at the time we chose our new vacation dates, Superior, Wisconsin, (just over the bridge from Duluth) is hosting one of the nations largest dragon boat festivals!! As dragon boat races are part of our daughter's culture, we will be paying a visit to good 'ol Superior, WI, this next weekend!
I can't wait to hear the water lapping at the shoreline, the sound of the splash when those crazy kids on the lake hit the water as they jump of the old sunken grain bin, the cries of the seagulls, or the piercing sound of the ship's horns as they enter the harbor.
...only a few more days!!
