Okay, so I'm on vacation this entire week. Week long vacation are a big deal around here; we tend to be one of those "extended weekend" type families who don't generally take week long vacations but take lots of 3 or 4 day vacations. In fact, over the past 12 years (that's how long I've been with my current employer) I've only taken two week long vacations -- one in 1997, for my honeymoon, and another in 2007, for a trip to Disney World with family and friends. (Not counting my time off for maternity and adoption leaves).
So...with my husband being super busy at work, "Little Man" in school, me sitting with over 4 weeks of vacation just begging to be used, and a holiday week -- I decided to go all out and take the week off. ("Feisty Girl" is even at daycare; a first for me really, as I don't normally send her to daycare if I'm at home).
I had BIG plans for this week. Last week I started to compose my "To Do" list and by Sunday I was ready to start chomping-at-the-bit! I was going to clean the house, start some Christmas shopping, do some baking, enroll "Little Man" in Little Squirts Basketball, and a whole bunch of other things.
Well, it turns out that the first "To Do" on my list (cleaning the kitchen) was a much bigger feat than I had originally antcipated. I dusted, scrubbed, cleaned, and organized. That couldn't possibly take that long, right? Ahh...yeah...it could. I started around 9:00 a.m. and finished just after 4:00 p.m.
My kitchen is nowclean, spotless, but I've got a whole lot more to get accomplished today...my list is only down one and time is a-tickin'.
Maybe Tuesday will bring better things!!
