We are the Proud Parents of...

We are the Proud Parents of...a Presidential Physical Fitness Award winner!

Yes, "Little Man" seems to be growing into a "Young Man" with each passing day.  For those who are not familiar with the Presidential Physical Fitness Award, in order to be eligible students must score at or above the 85th percentile in the following five categories:
  • Muscular Strength/Endurance
  • Cardio-Respiratory Endurance
  • Speed
  • Agility
  • Flexibility
Students were tested via the completion of a one-mile run, shuttle run, curl-ups, pull-ups, and "sit and reach."  To give you some idea of what this means in terms of numbers, this means "Little Man" had to complete the following (all based on student age):
  • Curl-ups...40 in one minute or less
  • A shuttle run...in 11.1 second or less
  • A sit and reach...measuring 31 centimeters or better
  • A one mile run...in 8 minutes 48 seconds or less
  • Pull-ups...5 or more
There were only 15 2nd graders (8 boys and 7 girls) who earned this award in the entire school -- so to say that we are proud of our "Little Man" would be an understatement!

Keep up the GREAT work TT!
