That moment when it feels like our world is crashing in around us. When we think that we can't possibly take anymore. That we question "why me?" That we hope somehow to be taken out of the situation we are in. That moment...when we feel like we are the only person on Earth to ever have been in this situation. That no one understands. That no one cares. And that we have no option but to give up.
But in that situation is where we need to know that the world isn't crashing in around us. That we're not the only people to have ever been in this situation. That others do understand, and care. And that there is no option but to not give up.
An event in the life of someone very close to me recently made me realize that no matter how much you think someone knows how much you care about them, the fact that you are always there for them, and that you would help them out in any situation -- that you need to make sure, in no uncertain terms, that that person really knows. Tell them. Then tell them again.
Whether for someone you know and love, or someone you've never met...if you are willing to reach out and offer your strength to someone in their time of weakness, make sure that they know that you are there for them. And if you are the person in need, ask for help.
I have always loved this song, written by Third Day, titled "Cry Out to Jesus" and want to share it -- in case you or someone you love needs to be "uplifted" today!
To everyone who's lost someone they love
Long before it was their time
You feel like the days you had were not enough
when you said goodbye
And to all of the people with burdens and pains
Keeping you back from your life
You believe that there's nothing and there is no one
Who can make it right
There is hope for the helpless
Rest for the weary
Love for the broken heart
There is grace and forgiveness
Mercy and healing
He'll meet you wherever you are
Cry out to Jesus, Cry out to Jesus
For the marriage that's struggling just to hang on
They lost all of their faith in love
They've done all they can to make it right again
Still it's not enough
For the ones who can't break the addictions and chains
You try to give up but you come back again
Just remember that you're not alone in your shame
And your suffering
When your lonely
And it feels like the whole world is falling on you
You just reach out, you just cry out to Jesus
Cry to Jesus
To the widow who struggles with being alone
Wiping the tears from her eyes
For the children around the world without a home
Say a prayer tonight
Long before it was their time
You feel like the days you had were not enough
when you said goodbye
And to all of the people with burdens and pains
Keeping you back from your life
You believe that there's nothing and there is no one
Who can make it right
There is hope for the helpless
Rest for the weary
Love for the broken heart
There is grace and forgiveness
Mercy and healing
He'll meet you wherever you are
Cry out to Jesus, Cry out to Jesus
For the marriage that's struggling just to hang on
They lost all of their faith in love
They've done all they can to make it right again
Still it's not enough
For the ones who can't break the addictions and chains
You try to give up but you come back again
Just remember that you're not alone in your shame
And your suffering
When your lonely
And it feels like the whole world is falling on you
You just reach out, you just cry out to Jesus
Cry to Jesus
To the widow who struggles with being alone
Wiping the tears from her eyes
For the children around the world without a home
Say a prayer tonight
