Shhhh....

Just a few short days now separate us from one of the biggest and best days of the year, in my humble opinion. Of course, the days leading up to that one fantastic day are somewhat crazy and completely hectic...but fun nontheless.

Today we finished up our shopping for Secret Santa gifts, "filler gifts" (as I call them!), and "polished off the wishes" of the few who remained on our list but for whom we had not yet been able to find the perfect gift. With that being said, we have one and only one, person left to shop for before the big day!

However, the best part of my day today had nothing to do with the fact that I completed most of my shopping, or that my kids were well behaved as we were doing our shopping, it wasn't even the GREAT (I'm talking o-v-e-r t-h-e t-o-p) customer service we received when we had lunch...no, the best part of the day was making a gift for my son. A gift from the heart. A gift that he knows he is getting and, in fact, has been sitting under the Christmas tree tormenting him for at least three weeks now.

Yes, "Little Man" asked me some time ago to make him a Minnesota Vikings tie blanket. I bought the fleece some time ago, with the best of intentions to actually make the blanket and let him start using it ASAP. Unfortunately, other family and work priorities got in the way and the fleece sat there under the tree for weeks. However, I promised myself that at all costs that blanket would get made this weekend. So I worked deligently for probably a total of a couple of hours tonight -- laying it out, cutting, cutting some more, tieing, tieing some more, smoothing out the edges, and getting it all to be just right. I did manage to grab a Diet Coke and some Motrin (sitting on the floor for a couple of hours is evidentially wonderful for my back in my old age!) while I was in the middle of things, but other than that it was heads-down-get-'er-done-work.

And now, it is done, washed, and ready to shroud one wonderful little boy in the warmth and love that only a mother can provide! Merry (early) Christmas my "Little Man." I hope you enjoy it during the game tomorrow...
